Fair Ambassador Program

The competition consists of a private 5 minute interview with a panel of judges, an onstage appearance & greeting, a brief speech on a pre-approved topic, and an impromptu question that will be asked on stage (all possible questions will be distributed on Wednesday night at the rehearsal, the only surprise will be which one is asked). After the initial judging is complete, finalists are chosen & asked to answer an unknown question.

 

Contestants will be judged on: their ability to make people feel comfortable, their friendliness & attitude, presentation & public speaking, poise, and control. Contestants are asked to bring two outfits the night of the competition. The first is something more casual, something you would wear to a job interview. The second outfit is to be more formal, reflecting how you would portray yourself if you were selected to be the Ambassador.

Once the Acton Ambassador is chosen, they will participate in a variety of functions throughout the year. Attendance at all events is not mandatory however, they are expected to attend the fair for the entire weekend. The number of additional events does lessen as the year progresses (i.e. one to two invitations per month are received). Being the Acton Ambassador is a wonderful experience that will follow you throughout your entire life. The confidence and self-esteem you will build throughout the year will become invaluable as you move toward your future goals. Most of all however, it is a lot of fun!

All contestants must be 16-22 years old, and either attend Acton High School or live in Acton, Limehouse, Ballinafad or the Rockwood areas. Every contestant will receive a small gift from one of the local businesses as well as passes to the fair.
